Information Session for Journalism Students this Wednesday

25 09 2012

Welcome back Journalism students! As we start off the fall semester, we would like to welcome all journalism students to attend the Journalism Convocation Event on Wednesday, September 26 at 5:30 p.m. in Sage 3420. There will be free pizza and soda! photo.JPG

As if that wasn’t motivation enough to stop by on Wednesday, students will have an opportunity to learn more about internship programs, scholarships available to majors, our website and other issues related to the program.

Chair of the Journalism Department Mike Cowling said it is a time set aside for students to learn more about what the department has to offer for majors and minors. “Registration for spring semester classes begins next week, and this will be a perfect time for students to ask questions in particular that they might have about advising,” Cowling said.

Topics covered during the event include:

  • Introduction to faculty and staff – Get to know your professors. They’ve got some great connections!
  • Introduction to clubs – Learn more about the student organizations offered in journalism.
  • Journalism advising guidelines – Get answers to all  of your questions about journalism advising.
  • Website and scholarship information – Find out about scholarships available only for journalism students.
  • Q&A session

The event is open for new students who are interested in becoming a journalism major, and students already in the program who want to be more informed. “Come for the food, but come more for what you might learn that will smooth your way to completing your degree in a productive and timely manner,” Cowling said.

We hope to see you all on Wednesday! To learn more about the journalism program at UW Oshkosh, visit our website.
