Ad Club Adds Experience

If you think that joining a club on campus would be a waste of your time, then you are sadly mistaken. Clubs on campus allow students like you and me to get involved. Not only does it look great on a resume, but in the long run you will be helping yourself out by gaining valuable experience.

As the President and Vice President of UWO’s Advertising Club, we would like to cordially invite everyone who is interested in Advertising or the world of Journalism to join Ad Club. This year Ad Club will be affiliated with the American Advertising Federation, which will open our doors to new experiences. Joining AAF will allow us to attend any of the Fox River Ad Club events, which include Student Vs. World and the Addy’s competition. Both of these events allow students to design ads that will be critiqued and voted on by a panelist of professionals. This is a great way for students to build up their portfolios while also networking with advertising professionals in the real world.

This year we have a lot planned for Ad Club, but here are just a few items on our list:

  • T-Shirt design competition
  • Visit Advertising Agencies
  • Participate in campus and local design competitions
  • Help one another learn more about the Adobe programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Interact with fellow students and professors in the Journalism Department

Ad Club meets every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Journalism Reading Room (Clow 152). We hope to see you there!
