If you’re looking for an informal way to meet area contacts, Tweetups, or Twitter Meetups, are a great option.
According to Ross LaRocco, coordinator of the Appleton Tweetups, attendees can expect a casual environment and relaxed way to get introduced to Twitter and how it can help build relationships within the Fox Cities, Oshkosh and Green Bay area.
“Tweetups are about meeting new people, starting your week off with coffee, or ending it with pancakes,” said LaRocco. “Last year there were none of these events in the area. Wisconsin is now a top contender in the numbers. We’re talking California, New York and Texas here.”
Attendees do not have to currently be active on Twitter to go. There are two recurring Tweetups in Appleton. The first, at Blueberry Hill, 3626 W College Ave, meets every other Friday at 7 a.m. They also take place on alternating Mondays for coffee at various establishments in the Appleton area.
“It’s early for some,” said LaRocco, “but that used to be my complaint too. The fact that I really like the people there gets me out of bed.”
If you’ve gone to a Tweetup event, leave some feedback! What did you think? Suggestions for improvement?
